Kathleen Lechleiter, AIA
k.lechleiter ARCHITECT LLC, Founder and Principal
Kathleen M. Lechleiter is an experienced professional with over 28 years of practice as a registered architect and founder of k.lechleiter ARCHITECT LLC (k.lA), a certified MBE/DBE with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and a Women Owned Business (WBE) with the City of Baltimore. Community development and collaboration are hallmarks of k.lA’s practice demonstrated by work throughout the City providing affordable housing for area non-profits and public housing and includes teaching in the Housing Studio at Morgan State University. Her practice continues to explore the power of the built environment on the well-being of the resident, the neighborhood and the City.
Pavlina Ilieva, RA
PI.KL, Co-founder and Principal
PI.KL is an interdisciplinary design studio exploring concepts, ideas, and projects of the conceptual and built order. Founded in 2009 and based in Baltimore MD, PI.KL seeks to produce a body of work that challenges the notion of contemporary practices of design, teaching, and visual communication.
Pavlina Ilieva is also Program Director of the Undergraduate Architecture and Environmental Design Program at Morgan State University and Panel Member of the Urban Design and Architecture Review Panel (UDARP) for the Baltimore City Department of Planning. Her professional experience spans from boutique residential and commercial projects to institutional and urban design proposals.
Kuo Pao Lian
PI.KL, Co-founder and Principal
Working without limits of expression, PI.KL studio experiments with 3D rendering and animation, film, architecture, objects, furniture, and digital fabrication with traditional building techniques to provide a multidisciplinary process of dissemination and creation.
Kuo Pao is a unionized set designer whose experience includes several HBO television shows and is also a part time instructor at Morgan State University and Maryland Institute College of Art. His design expertise includes commercial and residential projects, design build, and urban design. Kuo Pao is a licensed General Contractor and the Principal of PI.KL Construction.
David Lopez, AIA, LEED AP
David has 15+ years of experience as a builder, designer, fabricator and teacher in Hawaii, Seattle, WA and Baltimore, MD. Born and raised in Baltimore, he has an intense interest in detailing and construction means and methods so that projects meet their aesthetic intentions. As such, he spent 5 years working for Bellan Construction in Seattle where he managed several high-end single-family residential projects, worked on development/design/build projects, and helped set up and manage the company's cabinetry shop. Returning to Baltimore in 2005, he has worked at Hord Coplan Macht as a project architect for the past 10 years, leaving the firm to start LED-BETTER STUDIOS in 2015. During that time, he has also taught architecture and design for 7 years at both Morgan State University and the Maryland Institute, College of Art. His work experience while at HCM has been a mixture of Healthcare, Education and Housing studio projects, involved in all phases from schematic design through construction administration.
Director of Subversive Tactics, Artist and Designer
Elsa received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015. She welcomed the opportunity to study art and design in an interdisciplinary and conceptual setting opposed to the more traditional schools of thought, taking the time to study Visual Communications, Fashion Illustration, Fiber Studies, Painting, Art History, and Philosophy. While an undergraduate student she took the opportunities to study in Sweden, Finland, Italy, and India. Upon graduating she has continued working in the many facets of art, design, and architecture.
